Egypt Shine at 2024 UFAK Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships in Tunis

The 2024 UFAK Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships, held in Tunis, Tunisia, witnessed a remarkable performance from Egypt, which topped the final medal standings after securing an impressive total of 33 medals, including 20 golds. Algeria followed closely with 32 medals, while Morocco finished third with 18 medals, highlighting the intense competition among Africa’s leading karate nations.

In the Cadet category, Egypt asserted clear dominance by winning six of the available gold medals. Algeria and Senegal followed, each claiming two golds. Egypt’s strong showing in this division underscored the country’s continued investment in developing young talent, as its athletes demonstrated outstanding technical ability, discipline, and competitive maturity.

The Junior competition saw even greater Egyptian dominance. Out of the 12 gold medals on offer, Egyptian karatekas captured nine, delivering an exceptional overall performance. Their success reflected not only individual skill but also the depth and strength of Egypt’s karate development system, which continues to produce high-level athletes across age groups.

In the U21 category, competition was more evenly balanced. Egypt and Algeria shared the spotlight, each earning three gold medals. Host nation Tunisia, along with Morocco, also made strong impressions by securing two gold medals apiece. This balance highlighted the growing competitiveness of the division across multiple countries.

The championship brought together some of Africa’s most promising young karate talents and featured fierce, high-level competition throughout. With Egypt leading the medal table and strong performances from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and Senegal, the event clearly demonstrated the continued growth and expanding talent pool of karate across the African continent.
