Welcome Message from the President of UFAK

Welcome to the official website of the Union of African Karate Federations (UFAK).

Mr. Souleymane Gaye President Union of African Karate Federations (UFAK)

It is a great honor to welcome you to the official platform of UFAK, the continental governing body responsible for the management, development, and international promotion of African karate.

UFAK’s vision is firmly focused on the structured sporting development of karate in Africa, with the clear ambition of positioning the continent among the world’s leading karate nations. Our strategy is based on the organized expansion of karate, supported by strong national federations and the harmonization of sporting practices across the continent.

The strengthening of technical expertise is a central pillar of our action. In this regard, UFAK regularly implements training, certification, and advanced development programs for coaches and referees, ensuring high technical standards, fair competition, and full compliance with international regulations.

We also place strategic importance on the development of regional activities, which play a key role in organizing competitions, identifying talent, and preparing athletes for elite-level performance. This regional dynamic ensures balanced and consistent progress of African karate throughout the continent.

In pursuit of excellence and alignment with international standards, UFAK maintains close and ongoing cooperation with the World Karate Federation (WKF). This partnership enables us to align our regulations, training programs, and competitions with global requirements, while strengthening Africa’s representation and influence within the international karate community.

The results achieved in recent years clearly demonstrate the progress of African karate. Africa is now home to world champions and numerous athletes holding top positions in the world rankings, confirming the continent’s growing competitiveness on the global stage. UFAK remains fully committed to supporting this performance-driven momentum and to creating optimal conditions for the emergence and consolidation of African elite athletes.

This website serves as a communication and information platform for our member federations, athletes, coaches, referees, and partners, reflecting UFAK’s strategic orientations and sporting ambitions.

I extend my sincere thanks to all affiliated federations, leaders, technical officials, referees, and athletes for their continued commitment to the advancement of African karate.

I wish you an excellent visit to our website.
